Putting together a super duper article for an upcoming issue of HEN. And basically, I want feedback from the surfers and members of NMF for it.

I'm going to ask some questions, simply place your reply in a post with the answers to each question...

----------------

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?

6. Best traffic exchange related service?

----------------

And if you have any other question you think you want to answer, please post them as well.

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?

Every single owner who hasn't followed the mold. Owners that do things differently and try new things. Every single owner that didn't rely on someone else's hard work, that did it for themselves.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?

Traffic Era. For once again shaking up the industry and slapping us 'commercial script' guys around. It's been online almost an entire year now and still has one of the most active memberships around. Not too crazy about team surfing still but maybe I'll warm up to it. Point being, this was the largest and most successful launch of 2008.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?

Traffic Splash. No other exchange performed better for me than Splash. Mr. Kinder and Mr. Rash have turned a one time dead program into one of the most active and rewarding programs online.

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?

Hit Safari switching to an LJ script. Since that move, Safari has tanked in my rankings and traffic delivery is at an all time low. At once, this was one of the best exchange son the net, and still could be. But the decision to change scripts, boggles my mind. The saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...This never needed to be fixed.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?

Super Surfing script. Brainchild of Mr. Puddy and embraced by the other 4 owners. This will do more for traffic exchanges than we possibly could imagine. Things are about to really soar for the Super Surf 5 and all traffic exchanges from the introduction this will bring to the rest of the internet marketing industry.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?

Affiliate Funnel. Yeah, I co-own it but I really believe in the surfers choice and think it has really leveled the playing field for traffic exchange rankers. Now , members input is valued over fancy stats. Oh yeah, and as a downline builder it ain't too shabby either.

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?

My vote here is for Mr. Kinder, for his cross promotions that every copies, his surf rewards that everyone copies, his constant contact with members that many try to copy but fall short on, He bit into a huge chunk at the end of last year beginning of this year and I would have loved to see some of his other projects come to life this year, but know they are not too far off and much work has been done to them. has been done to them.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?

Best as far as innovative and game changing -would agree with traffic era although it is not in my top performing list many of the ideas it released have been carried over into other exchanges and its concept is a great way of showing how to stand out and be different

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?

Dragon Surf has been a top performer for me for a long time.

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?

I would have to agree with you 100% on that one Jon, not sure why any one would change scripts over like that, from and admin side or from a surfers side I prefer the TCN script

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?

I may be biased on this one since I had a similar idea, but I think the profile pages at ILH, along with the personal branding in the surfbar that ILH, Startxchange and AKH, have is the best, for some reason not much fuss was made over these things but as someone trying to brand themselves in this industry I think little things like this are a huge thing to help put a name and face to what you are promoting.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?

The branded spalsh pages for the supersurf sites added to viralebookexplosion. Why this may not be a standard TE related service.

Jeff steping out of the box and adding those to his promotional provides a great service for outsiders coming into exchanges and learning right from the start what type of pages to use and opens a lot of opportunities for other outside marketers to look at exchanges in a different light.

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?
Argh the pain... I would have to say the hobbit - very impressive job

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?
For innovation it has to be Era - but wasn't impressed by the launch
compared to their potential and pre-existing membership. The Goldrush
and Witch launches were very impressive in terms of sales and numbers.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?
I'm biased and have an advantage but I'd have to say Dragon Surf,
with Traffic-Splash coming in 2nd

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?
The Hit Safari script move - well not necessarily the move itself. But
the failure to make sure all the old links wouldn't lead to a blank page.
It was in hundreds of downline builders, exchanges, on blogs etc.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?
Definitely Super Surf and especially our efforts to bring in new
blood to the industry.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?
The new AF ranker - I would answer differently on the 14th :P

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?
Paul has to get this for the joint promotions and growth. Love new eyeballs each week.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?
Traffic Era botched it with me on the launch so never used it. Too early to tell but have seen good results from Traffic Witch but did on Gold Rush on the launch too depends if results keep up so no real vote here.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?
Toss up between Dragon Surf and Traffic Splash been 1 and 2 and switch just about each month for me.

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?
Hit Safari changing scripts really befuddled me. Changed all the urls and lost a ton because of no redirects as had that in quite a few places some of which I don't even remember as had been a member there since before it launched.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?
Like the idea of the super surf only for what they have done with outside marketers.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?
No vote here because don't surf to see what has come out.

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?

Paul Conway. Not only did he have an amazing launch, but his exchange continues to gain momentum months later.

PromoLotto. It's one of the most innovative traffic exchanges in the industry.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?

Owners that keep launching new traffic exchanges when none of theirs have any members.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?

Well... I'll have to say the memory game at FiveHits.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?
Steve Ayling, quiet, unassuming, but always on top of trafficattheraces.
Trafficattheraces has to be the most underrated TE.
William Brant is a close second for the same reasons.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?
I thought gladiators had the best launch, but not one new TE
really took off IMHO.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?
Traffic-splash, with dragonsurf and trafficattheraces close
behind. ILH, of course. And there are really a good host of
so-called top tier exchanges that are top notch .
Hard to pin down just one.

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?
Collectively launching the same ol' same ol' over and over.
*Note* I guess I am in the minority. I actually like the new
hitsafari! Course I do not use nor like downline builders, so
bad urls did not bother me.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?
The profile thingy added on ILH.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?
The mailbox feature on funnyfarm and trafficroundup.
Hands down the best feature on any exchange.
Solos, anytime, to all members. If people knew this
feature worked, they would be using it more.

No comment - We are all strange sometimes lol (edited afterwards: if I had know that Magnify left and was not kicked out of the Super Surf That IS the strangest decision)

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?

Any of the many features added to LOT. And the Profile pages of I Love Hits.

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?
Paul Kinder, hands down. He is THE guy to learn from. And although many have copied some of his methods, one thing I noticed that HASN'T been copied is his unique support team. (Yeah I know, it sounds biased). But seriously, that's because Paul has a different view on what customer service should mean. I've yet to see that in any other TE.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?
Traffic Era. Although not a great performer now, it was the most anticipated and talked about launch this year.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?
Traffic Splash

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?
I agree, Hit Safari changing to an LJ made absolutely no sense to me.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?
I agree with William on this that the picture branding in the surfbars at a few TEs is an awesome tool that's quite underrated.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?
Affiliate Funnel definitely (I thought I put that in here already, lol) and Tim Linden's Blog. This is chock full of really useful information, not just for TEs but for IM in general. I love seeing people's opinions on the different topics he discusses. Good stuff! (I'll take those credits now Tim  )

1. Who was your 'traffic exchange owner of the year'? And why?
Tim Linden - His website is clean and well organized. He wiggled his way into the super surf and I think that speaks volumes when there was 100 other TEs that would have loved that spot. Paul Kinder and Jon Olson both could have easily grabbed this spot.

2. What was the best new traffic exchange launched this year?
I like Promolotto's content. Others had bigger and better launches but this one stood out in my mind. I did not join TrafficEra so I cannot properly evaluate it.

3. Your top performing traffic exchange of 2008?
I made more money from HitSafari then any other TE.

4. Strangest decision made by a traffic exchange in 2008?
Do not know how or why it happened but I think Magnify leaving supersurf was strange.

5. Best new feature(s) added to any traffic exchange?
Hard to pick just one. I like TrafficBunnies spotlight splashpages.

6. Best traffic exchange related service?
Supersurf hands down.
