K - I'm all for emailing your membership and all but this is just getting silly.

I get dozens of emails from various traffic exchange owners, DAILY with nothing but a list of winners from the previous days promotion.

I don't care who won.

I don't need to know every single day that 'surfingnutjob' has won 250 banner credits.

So please, for the love of everything that's right in traffic exchanges....Pitch me or give me something useful to read.

If you are going to send me daily updates about your winners, at least throw in a link for something to buy....Or something to log into, or something to read that I could use....

It's just getting silly these days....Absolutely no substance at all and no sales process either.

/ rant

Jon,

But what you are asking for is, the only reason to own a traffic exchange is to sell something? Can an owner not own an exchange to provide a service?

I agree with you that I want to read more useful information, but I also don't want a sales pitch every time I get a mailing. (this is only my opinion)

I am guilty as well, and I will try to add more substance to my emails. I have some ideas, and I will get them out soon

Thanks for the input / rant!

Robin

Absolutely.

Why else would you be in business if not to sell stuff?

This is sales, no matter how you wanna look at it.

We are selling.

I understand the rant Jon, but maybe there could or should be a way to filter those emails from the exchange sending them out. Like if you don't want winning results then click a button to remove you from that list. If you only want updates on new features "ONLY" then opt-in for that feature only. I am sure that a programmer could figure out how to make that happen.

Maybe but the point is, I encourage emailing, I think it's great. I actually want to read what other owners send me, as I hope their return the favor...

But I wanna be sold, I want a marketing lesson, I want some tips and tricks, I want links to services they recommend...

Sending updates for winners is fine, just pitch something with the update.

Shoot, pitch them SWAT Traffic seminars LOL Affiliate Funnel...ISPG, aWeber, Splash Page Maker...Something.

So keep sending me the notifications, just give me some substance along with it.

Ok maybe I worded it wrong.

I agree with the selling, I just don't want the pitch daily.

Pitching me something is perfect, I might need / want it, but I don't want a pitch daily, or a surf contest update daily.

:)

I want more substance in emails, I too get a ton of emails only about surf updates. I normally just don't end up reading emails from those owners. So I do think that it is shooting yourself in the foot.

Ya, and that's what this is doing.

I'm finding myself not even reading half of this stuff now because it's just notifications of surfing results from the previous day.

And I hate it, because I love reading updates from different owners.

It's a trend we need to stop I think.

But as for pitches....Man, I love being pitched. I love it. I love reading how people sell, I love to see different techniques. Doesn't mean I'll buy all the time, but I do enjoy the sales process.

Interesting.

I honestly had not thought about it in that way before. I always had looked to get the information about their service, and offerings, but not the sales pitch/cycle.

I too look forward to the emails, and the personality that people put into theirs, but I don't see a lot of personality into the sales pitch, most of the emails are the same from a bunch of owners. It's almost like seeing an affiliate page.

See that's funny because I do see personality. I KNOW a Paul Kinder email, sure he's got information on his previous day winners but the guy is great at placing little tidbits, P.S.'s, great stuff and it's not a 'pitch' but rather links everywhere in the email...

Soren's emails...Pitches daily and some of the BEST advertising lessons in the exchanges. Everytime I get his emails, i stop and read it, not only for the product offered but the entire sales process.

amazing stuff and that's why I love getting emails from owners...

I agree 100%. I will ALWAYS read emails from them.

Generally speaking, a lot of people will cut and paste a JV email, and use it. That is what I am talking about. We preach to use a splash page when advertising, but then when it comes to an email, people tend to cut, paste, and hit send.

Pauls mails i also read, cause sometimes there are interesting links, though i don´ t like same content everytime. Now and then i can afford Sorens products, sometimes they are good priced, the more expensives are for advanced marketers anyway, i suppose. I don´ t mind pitches, depends how they are written. Only problem is, i cannot do paid subscribtions, there are no premium paypal accounts in my country.

btw, was on eye surgery today --> Success! can see better now 8)

Exactly why I don't send out updates so often, but that can also be a negative too.

OK, I know what you mean but some of those emails and updates are coming in with the same pitch many times in a single day(s) from different owners. Then who do we take up on the offer, I'm up to the point I don't want to open any emails anymore from certain owners too with a sales pitch, unless of course I know I can get an extra bonus for my advertising within the exchange, like credits or banner impressions, etc.
It's not that I don't respect them and what they are selling again though if you take every offer and then you are doomed for losing focus.
I know it's a big problem for me, must be others out there like me too.

Thank you Jon and Robin for a good lesson. I will watch my future emails now for the pitch and personalized sales. I am also going to follow your advice on reading the http://www.emailpromosexposed.com page...sounds like something worth looking into. Thanks guys.
