After Dallas, what is your opinion on the state of affairs in the TE industry? Good, bad, unchanged?

I see 2 'unchanged' poll answers.

We need feedback folks...This is your industry, what would you like to see changed? Added? Increased? Decreased? :D :D

I have surfed about 2 or 3 yaers now...Who's counting.

When I started you had another TE than now. Personally I have seen the TE grown a specailly the owners.

The ' new' generation owners are the Bomb. A specially TE guys gang ( olsons students).

I see more team work and bundling forces with the TE owners to keep this industry healthy.

Robert puddy is in my eyes a key player in the new wave of TE business. Thanks to his seminars TE is noting to be a shame off. But a force to reckon with. Thanks robert ..you may be grumpy but a hero in my book.

I've surfed the exchanges for almost 5 years and I've placed my vote but I'm reserving my thoughts for now...

Well here are my thoughts about TEs, for what it's worth.

I have used TE for over 5 years now. Granted I probably haven't used them as effectively as I should.

Surfing TEs has gotten a better with a better class of TE owners that care about their membership and the kind of traffic they deliver.

I voted unchanged and here's why...

TEs are still basically advertisers advertising to other advertisers. I still don't see much benefit for someone other than advertisers to use them. If I weren't trying to sell something, I wouldn't have any reason to surf and probably wouldn't have even heard of TEs.

Until TEs find a way to attract people other than marketers, they will still have an uphill battle ahead of them.

That's my 2 cents worth (maybe less).

Yeah very valid points.

I just honestly think TE's will never cater to anyone outside of the IM / Home based business arena.

Anything that does, will use the TE model, but be niche targeted I think.

Why not? Why can't the TE's make a few adjustments to compensate, I mean most of the TE's have the ability to adjust, it's just a matter of attracting that crowd and providing the right options. Well a tad more than that but I still don't see why it couldn't be at least attempted..

Just don't think we need to try to be something that we are not. When you try to cater to everyone, you lose focus. It's like 'The Long Tail'...Most companies are learning in this day and age to cater to specific markets....Rather than selling mass quantities to mass consumers.

Now am I saying that the 'TE' model cannot exist elsewhere...Absolutely not. In fact I had some amazing conversations this past weekend about huge potential markets that could benefit from the TE model.

But that's where I think the specific niche TE would do good.

Something like ILH...It's strength is in IM / Home based business. And there's nothing wrong with that I think. We have only scratched the surface of it's potential in this market alone...

We are the front line for new people coming into this business...However most TE surfers and owners may not relaize this or plan their campaigns around it.

We as TE's aren't seen as a very viable source for advertising outside of IM because there are a few very simple things we are missing and you said it yourself. Focus. Targeting. We are only doing this in one area.. Why? The potential markets outside of IM and inside are huge beyond comprehension.. Just scratching the surface is an understatement to say the least.

I don't believe by shaping our business model to compensate for a bit more broad range of markets would be taking our focus away at all, simply adapting. Although the main problem with this would be marketing to whole world rather than targeting our marketing in the IM world.. anyone have a couple mil laying around?

Yeah, there's always that potential. But I don't know. I think the TE model, as is, is perfect for the IM / home based business market. And more and more people will be coming online to 'look at earning a living online'. Nothing wrong with being the welcome mat for that market, which we already are technically. This is very exciting. Lots of good things to come for sure no matter what the case...
