Simple enough question, sometimes I think owners may jump the gun. So I ask it, what is important for traffic exchange surfers? More money? Results? New sales? new customers? bigger network? Branding? Traffic flow? Let's hear it :)

For me it's more customer and (name) branding.

Surfers want in my opinion, the how to do it and make traffic exchange work on a consistent level for branding and traffic flow. This is a great question, in which I believe I have found the solution that will be the problem solver for surfers.

I heard Traffic Exchange Brand Awareness before?
I think that is the answer, I dont think surfers want some quacky gizmo game, some mind game, sure games is fun but it aint something am sure traffic exchange surfers want ..

well it aint that long since i wasn't an owner so i remember what i wanted .....

signups, more signups, and then more signups.

branding is fine cos it gets me more signups in the long run, but all i cared about was results.

Oh, and whether i had a pleasant surfing experience. i wouldn't and still won't surf crap whatever results i get.

Got any tips for making the surfing experience more pleasant on Magnify, Paul? Or common problems that make surfing less pleasant on TEs in general?

i like magnify fine dan. clean and simple.

it'd be even better if more took advantage of the 5% bonus for auto-assign too. :)

i'd look at site design overall cos its way too plain imho but I imagine you already have plans there as you've mentioned it here before.

the biggest common problem is just poor admins who don't keep their site clean. if surfers stick to using the top exchanges that produce the best results then they should be quite safe from that too.

try telling that to newbies tho, they don't listen. i know, cos I didn't! lol

I'll second Paul's thoughts. I've had many members tell me that they love surfing StartXchange and stopped using another exchange because it gave them problems while surfing. And some are pretty strict.. I was told once by someone who found a site with a virus and they said they will stop surfing an exchange if it happens a second time.

I agree with what Paul says. I want results- sales or signups but the most important thing is a clean te and good customer service.

signups, signups and more signups to repeat what Paul said.

branding and the exchange has to have a smooth surfing experience,
besides not seeing the same page over and over agin in a surf session.
Like 5 times in a row Ugggghh.

if the exchange constantly in a surf session has multiple framebreakers or even a download scripts and or even those pesky slow loading PTP sites
I will not surf them.

I also realize that I am missing some good exchanges but I also do not like the rotating flying surfbars, when you surf with tabbed browsing and
multiple exchanges they are a hassle, I stopped surfing them unless once in a great while. Just my opinion.

But having said that I know my own exchange needs a lot of
work to get it up to par with even the same membership base size
as with other exchanges for deliverability with traffic for one,
and I am seeking ways of mending that.

Great feedback so far folks, keep it coming. This is apretty important topic if you ask me. Especially for us owners that tend to think we are more important than we really are *cough cough Jon Olson* :drunk:

I've used TE in the past for branding, signup and sales but it all comes down to in the long run is $$

What's the point of putting money into it if I can't get money out of it?

Unless you're referring to commissions offered by a TE, generating sales, creating effective pages is up to you not the TE owner.
Bringing in the eyeballs to look at your site however, definitely is our job. :)

All good points, but there is another thing that keeps me from surfing an exchange. It really burns me up when an exchange claims to have a 10-second timer but it takes 5 seconds of "waiting for thedomain.com" before it loads the timer and ad, and another 5 seconds waiting at the end for the images to finally appear. If I want to surf those exchanges I have to put them in my 20-second group or I'll waste too much time "waiting" before moving on to the next tab.

I'm sure most of these are due to being on a shared server, but some could just be because their scripts are so bloated they are terribly inefficient.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the periodic slowdowns we all experience when we have been online too long and our cache is getting bogged down, nor the periodic routing problems, etc.. I'm talking about exchanges that behave like this from the git-go when all of the other exchanges in the group are zipping along and this one miserable piece of c$ap is holding up the works. ;)

Anyway, I guess if I had to describe this for the "what do surfers want" question I would say we want the TEs to ensure their exchange performs as described.

Funny how all the answers so far have come from owners (we'll make Su an honorary owner here). I know owners are also surfers but maybe we have a different perception on the subject. Would be good to hear from people who are 'pure' surfers.
