I have thought that VS-TEN was a good idea and have it running on one of my sites.

But just recently I got some negative feedback, and I now have an opt-out system setup.

Anyway, I am interested in more opinions on this system.

Anyone with an opinion is welcome to give it here.

best wishes

Thom

In short I think it's crap...

If I buy advertising at an exchange I want to know where my credits are
delivered - how am I supposed to track and test my advertising if I don't?

If a TE needs to use something like VS-TEN to move credits it has no place
in this industry anyway

There used to be a long thread around here about it. I believe it was pruned with alot og the old threads though.

You won't find a good opinion of it here.

That explains why my searches did not find anything :)

Good opinions or bad opinions are welcome. I am not easily swayed by opinion, I just need some different viewpoints to consider 8)

Yeah I tend to side on this way of thinking. If I buy credits at 'A' exchange, I want them delivered in 'A' exchange. :)

I guess VS-TEN sounds good in principle - surf a couple of exchanges and get exposure on loads of others - but there are more downsides than up.

Apart from what has been mentioned above:

1. Some exchanges don't give an option to exclude autosurfs which means your manual credits are being eaten away for nothing.

2. Most of the exchanges that use this don't appear to have that many members anyway so credits are being passed around a relatively small audience.

3. I'm not sure if there is quality control on the sites being fed INTO an exchange so you could end up being shown a load of crap over which the owner has no control.

I surfed a VS-TEN exchange recently (can't remember which) and had to give up because of the sheer number of bad sites, mainly those hidden search ones. At least if you stay with a known reputable exchange your surfing will be a lot cleaner and any problems can be dealt with 'in house'.

There is absolutety no quality at all... all it does is keeping 500 piss poor exhanges
floating instead of letting them die - and only because the members of said exchanges
are too lazy to track their hits or too new to know how...

We need to stamp on this crap if we ever want to convince the rest of the IM world
that TEs are a viable source of advertising... period.

I totally agree.. if you go on Google and type 'Traffic Exchanges'... this is the first result:

There are many reasons why the rest of the world does not take us seriously... And I have a plan to 'clean it up' or at least bury the results on pages where they lose their significance by creating quality content about TEs that will rank higher in the search engines..

Sorry Rad, that's a little misleading. try typing in "traffic exhange" instead and it'll yield 63 million results vs. "traffic exchanges's" 1.4 million, which in the Google world, aint much. While I agree websites like that are pure crap, it is not necessary the representative of what people will find when they search for traffic exchange on google.

On a side note, Trafficbunnies made the top 3 page for "traffic exchange". I'm impress. Nice going Cindy. :D

So basically, vs-ten is sorta like a forced traffic coop but you don't get to choose which traffic exchanges are being use? that doesn't sound too appealing.

How is that misleading.. people searching for our kind of program will also type it with an s... I don't care how many results either one term gives... That is irrelevant... this article hurts TEs.. and people trying to find more info on TEs... will end up finding this article...period

Well, you did use that article to support your arguement that this is what people see when they search for traffic exchange and thus reflects on us badly, which is not entirely true, not even close.

How can you bring up searches on google and not care about the results? The article is irrelevant simply because no sees it! numbers dont lie.
