Welcome to the newest issue of Hit Exchange News and this week's 'One To Click On by Jon'.

The amazing thing about the hit exchange industry is how diverse it has become. Not only do you get members from every part of the world looking at your websites, but you also have owners from a lot of different countries. Some owners will choose to create their program one way, others will do it their way. Sometimes you get very conflicting practices but that's what keeps me clicking...You just never know what might come up next!

So how can we use this to our advantage? How about creative advertising? Yes, I'm a big fan of 'doorway / sales' pages. You get very high quality page views because they 'should' load very quickly and get your point across to the viewer. Perfect for capturing email addresses or promoting a brand new program. How about branding different pages for different exchanges?

An example of this would be knowing what exchange you are surfing. If you are surfing an MGRcentral (MPAM) co-owned program such as MPAM Start, acknowledge this in your ad copy. "Attention MPAM members!"

Or what about a 3Step website like Viral Visitors or Lemming Run..."Hey 3 Step Members!"

Knowing what kind of exchange you are surfing can greatly increase your chances to 'connecting' with another surfer. You can even go into this advertising trick further and explain some of the problems associated with a specific program and offer a solution. So you are promoting a safelist, and are advertising a large e-mail hosting program. Let the surfers know that you understand how much time it takes to delete e-mail, your program can do it automatically for example.

This industry is so effective if you use some creativety with your hit exchange advertising. Know the program you are surfing, know your product / program and create something different. Yes, duplicated websites do the trick, but adding a personal touch will do your online business wonders!

• Fast Freeway has changed their surf bar to address past concerns that this exchange was very cheatable. While this is a step in the right direction, I have heard from some members that the cheat prevention is so small, a lot of folks are having a hard time clicking the right letter to recieve credit. On a positive note, the clicking contest is now open for all members. Yes, you can win from only clicking for a few hours, unlike past winners who seemed to surf 24 hours a day.

• Speaking of MPAM Start...Wow, what a turnaround this week. I used to average only a handful of hits a week from this program but the powers that be have done a 180 degree turn and hits are flying out of this program. This has become a very active hit exchange and one to keep an eye on for sure.

• Hits For You is a relative newcomer onto the scene. While it had it's problems when it first started up, this program has become quite active and the numbers I get show that this exchange could be a force in the next few months. That in mind, I do have a beef. How many e-mails have I received about their 'Special Sale' this week? One a day, claiming there's only a handful left. Quick tip, instead of trying to sell credits everyday how about something to keep your active members happy? A click contest? Surf for cash? A picture of Jon? =)

Traffic Swarm is the most used 'hit' exchange on the web. According to Alexa rankings, which in my opinion do not measure the effectiveness of an exchange. And I use the term 'hit' exchange loosely becuase this is more of a 'text' exchange than anything. But you get your websites seen, and this program seems to be popular with the 'big names' so it does have drawing power.

That's just it, Traffic Swarm has such a huge database of members, it's impossible to ignore. Yes, this program is something you should be a member of but with all the big name 'guru's' claiming this is the most effective traffic generator they've ever used, you should keep a watchful eye. My ad trackers have not shown me thousands of targeted visitors as their system claims to deliver, but the traffic I have received from it, has accounted for a few new subscribers.

Overall, Traffic Swarm is hardly a swarm, it's more of a single buzz. Used right, that buzz can translate into high quality visitors and eventual sales. And when it all comes down to it, that's what we're after.

Things That Make You Go...Hmmm? (We're just having fun folks, no disrespect intended!)

A flashlight is a case for holding dead batteries! Hmmm... Wow, Hit Exchange News is officially 5 months old! 20 Issues deep! An issue a week published every Thrsday morning (EDT). Yes, I have no social life! *lol* Hmmm.... Has everyone seen those banner harvesting pages surfacing around the exchanges? Wow, there's over 50 banners on one page. Talk about money well spent! Hmmmm.... Wow, how cool is Raging Bull Traffic. Imagine winning Share Traffic credits on Raging Bull? What a concept...Remind me of the time I.... Hmmmm...
