Welcome to the newest issue of the Hit Exchange News and this week's 'One To Click On by Jon'.

So here we are...2004! Wow, only 8 days into the new year and I've already had quite an interesting year. Just a word to the wise, when it comes to online payment processors, Pay Pal is number 1 in my book. This is a touchy subject because bascially, it's how we all get paid online, but trust me on this one folks. READ THE TERMS OF SERVICE FOR EACH PROCESSOR! They really know how to disrupt a business. Trust me!

Anyways, 2004 is here and when the clock struck midnight on the 1st, there was a new law passed in America that directly effects ALL OF US in online business. It's called the CAN-SPAM Act and whether you agree with it or not, it's not the 'law' for sending e-mail online. Here's a brief overview of it and all the 'small print', ( CAN-SPAM ).

While I'm not a lawyer and will never pretend to know it all, all I can do is ask that anyone who does not want to recieve the News anymore, there's an opt-out link in each e-mail sent. I would hate to see anyone go, so do stick around, 2004 promises to be an interesting year to say the least!

• Speaking of awards, as many of you know, Traffic Hoopla has been known for some time now for not only a great place to build downline's in various hit exchanges, but is also home to the Hit Exchange Report. They also had a Top Award of 2003 and their winner was No More Hits as the number 1 overall exchange of 2003! Very interesting results, and another positive step in the exchange industry. I think 2004 is going to be HUGE for us all!

• Wow, what a differance a year can make =) So far, the turn around exchange of 2004 (yeah, I know it's only a week old) is definately ClixMania. While this exchange is an oldie but goody, it had it's problems in the past few months. With it's brand new look, and ACTIVE memberbase, ClixMania looks to turn things around in the new year. Definately a program to watch!

• And brand new this week comes a new weekly report from Quality Click Zone. What is so cool about this new report is that it measures actual performance and how many people 'sign up' from the exchanges that are being ranked. They call it 'Subscription Rate' and it's a nice little feature that I enjoyed. Very cool feature and a great addition to the industry!

"I've seen your Award of Excellence on various exchanges, what is it and how do I get one of those awards for my exchanges?"

Hey Vic,

Thanks for the e-mail! The H.E.N. Award of Excellence is given to exchanges that not only provide a great place to surf, but something unique as well. For example, some folks question why I put XYZ Exchange instead of ABC Exchange. Well, if they remain an active member of the exchange industry in general and impress not only myself, but their own members, they deserve an Award.

The Awards are meant to show people new and old to the industry, that the owner of that program CARES about their members. And yes, the program does have to perform well, and this makes those exchanges on that list, the best of the best! There will be a few new programs added to the list in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned for that.

Hey, if your exchange has an active membership, provides quality traffic, has been online for some time and more importantly, has an interesting and unique theme to it...I would love to give it an Award of Excellence!

Quite an interesting little program this is. Hit Sense, when it first came out, resembled the old WebmasterQuest script and layout. The program was a smooth and enjoyable place to surf and it was one of the more active exchanges on the net.

Fast forward to 2004 and yes, Hit Sense is still a great place to surf but it has lost some of it's bark. While not as active as it once was, Hit Sense improves itself quite frequently. They do minor updates and site re-designs every few months and keep the program in tip top shape. What makes this program work so well is the attention the owners give it, and you can tell. Whether it be a small upgrade or a quick response to a support question, Hit Sense does a good job!

So what made this program such a hot spot a while back? Simple, they were the first hit exchange to offer a 'forced matric' referral program. Their 2 X 5 forced matrix built downlines for everyone you referred and got you some pretty healthy referral credits in the process. So why the slow down? I would argue it was because of 2 factors. The first would be a lack of 'email updates' as they were far and few between and then ultimately, Hit Sense became 'another hit exchange program'.

Hopefully with the new year upon us, Hit Sense can put some more bite in it's bark and bring back the active members!
