but in ads you almost go immune to it like commercials..
Yes, but like commercials they can get stuck in your head too and the next thing you are singing their jingles or quoting them :D

I find it remarkable that people still 'surf' while doing other things like listening to music etc..

I wrote about this like a decade ago, and even talked about it in the first NMF...

How do we expect to get results when we aren't even showing other advertising the common courtesy of our full attention.

I get it, multi-tasking and all...I just think the industry would be a better place if we paid attention to how people advertise, to get ideas , show respect etc.

We are marketers and advertisers right? Why do we get upset when people market and advertise to us?

Why do you find that remarkable?

You guys encourage tab surfing, click down the line

What's that site Tony came out with it?

That's all about quick clix, tab surfing too.

Then the beat the clock timers, 2 seconds, 4 seconds

Another gotcha pick pocket, Ching ching ching ching another in house profit maker.

Matter of fact, I had a pow wow in a forum with a Te owner, forget her name,
I'll just call her the Sunshine girl, that should ring a bell.

I questioned about the short timers in open chat in an open Te forum.

I brought up how advertisers are baited in with the bill board of the claim
of quality advetisers that are eager to see your ads.

So, the new comers thinks pays their fee's one way of the other for credits
to only be tabbed surfed, timer shorted and power surfers and team players.

Now, lets talk about that quality advertising like it was 10 years ago.

Oh darn, almost forget.

The Sunshine girl stated.

We know what those sites are, we see them a thousand times a day.

Of which the point she was making, the short timers gets them through
quicker to reach their daily quota of the credits they want to muster up.

O.k. you say 'you guys' like every single person has encouraged that. lol

In fact, I have said 'no more than four' for about 10 years. Have done countless blog posts about how harmful surfing with sound off can be for results as well.

A few things like:

- Give respect to your fellow surfer
- Look at the ads and give your full attention to it
- Create remarkable squeeze pages that capture attention...

Jon, anyone that is doing " Four " is not a master of One ( 1 )

Yup, that's right, I said you guys,
Te operators are all in the same business, identical business model, same end game.

Jon, I am wondering...in all those years the TE exist, was there ever a study about the identity and habits of their users?

We tried basic marketing back in the day to try to get demographical information. Caused quite the stir asking for an age and sex. LOL

That could be a major missed opportunity on our end, not really digging deep to find out as much as we can. We have polled and surveyed over the years (my company has) but maybe a largest study could and should be done.

About a month ago, I was chatting at a traffic exchange surf bar with few others and the issue of surfing or not with sound was raised.
The vast majority, if not all, declared that they surf with the sound off! It should though be noted that, at that time, all of them were Europeans.

Kurosivo, we did a limited quantitative study in 2006 within the general TE user base. As with most things in TEs, getting a reflective sample base from which to draw data was difficult. We acquired data from several sources including, but not limited too, email, direct survey, interaction in various social media, and member profiles in programs we were associated with.

Jon was involved in some aspects, and as he stated, getting accurate data was difficult.

Some of the data, such as income brackets, was inconclusive. However, a primary profile was determined in other, more responsive, areas. I will pull that data and make a post on the Forum.

I am sure the dynamics of the user base has changed to some degree since then. Median age being one aspect I think noteworthy. A reflective, qualitative, study of today's environment to offset previous data could be helpful in making determinations.
