Stop being so easily offended!

Post by esljohnny » Tue Feb 13, 2018 1:34 pm

The other day I was speaking to some other marketers on a different platform.
One of the marketers kept talking about how they "can't, won't, or don't have the time" to implement some suggestions to their marketing that were being made.

Then that person was "called out" on a couple of things - both business and private, that rubbed them the wrong way. They became offended after being thrown off the platform (by the moderator and owner of the program) and decided not only to leave the social part of the program but to leave the entire program and everything related to it.

Being the person I am I tried to talk one on one with the person and try to get them to see things from the other person's perspective - they refused. They kept talking about what they "refuse to put up with" and how they "refuse to be treated." Period. They also had a hissy fit about the "offending party" not "being apologetic."

The thing that gets on my nerves is that this person "folded their arms" and demanded to be treated "fairly" and when they didn't get what they thought they "deserved" they quit everything. Well, being treated fairly sometimes involves actions that we may not like or agree with. It's not always about the right or wrong of a thing, but about being willing to accept that maybe, just maybe the other person may have a point.bIf you want to be successful in business and in life you have to be ready to deal with the positive and negative that comes with life.

People throw around this phrase "I prefer to surround myself with positive people." That in it'
self is OK, but there is a difference between surrounding ourselves with positive people and surrounding ourselves with folks that "tickle our ears."

I have gone "toe to toe" with the very same person that this person had a disagreement with. I left the platform (for that session) and did not respond to the person's attempts to contact me privately. Once I calmed down I was ready to listen and to let go. I stuck around (the person's program) because I know that the person is "deeper" than the disagreement we had. We have disagreed before, and probably will again, but we have a respect for each other and know that we would not purposely do anything to offend the other. That takes HUMILITY - one of the hardest characteristics to apply in our lives.

GROW UP, FOLKS! Be mad. Quit associating with folks if you choose, but do it for the right reasons, not for childish and immature ones.

That is my rant for today!

Name names ;) lol

I hear you man. I get fed up with it all really. I choose to surround myself not by 'positive' people but by action takers.

Excuses run rampant in this business.

Find a group of action takers and your life will be changed forever lol

This is why I spend time with people who are uplifting and positive.

I like to stay away from these types of negative situations. And to be honest, we have more things we can do with our time.
